Lab Updates

In October, NFCIBR held their highly anticipated Center retreat at the Sleeping Lady Resort in Leavenworth, WA. This is an amazing venue for science, nestled into the mountains just east of Seattle, full of wildlife and well timed for the fall foliage.

During the quieter days of the COVID pandemic, the Shih and Gust labs joined forces for virtual lab meetings with Craig Brown’s lab at the University of Victoria. After years of talking about hosting an in-person gathering, we finally made it happen! We organized a fantastic meeting in beautiful Victoria, BC—just a two-hour Clipper ferry ride (and a few adventurous hours waiting for Uber rides). To our delight, our mentors Tim Murphy and Kim Delaney made surprise guest appearances, adding to an incredible day filled with science and camaraderie.
